Can You Make A Profit Betting At Betfair SP? This Tipster Can…

It’s one of the most common questions I receive these days – Can you recommend a tipster that makes a profit betting at Betfair SP?

The good news is that YES I can recommend a profitable Betfair SP Tipster AND best of all – they are offering you the chance to sample their advice for just £1 for 30 days.

If after 30 days you like their service, you can also save 50% on the ongoing monthly cost.

Interested? I thought so….

Revealed: The Profitable Betfair SP Tipster

The tipster in question is ‘All Weather Profits‘, who we have been proofing at SBC since June 2015, during which time we have personally verified over 1000 tips and witnessed them first-hand making significant profits at Betfair SP.

The All Weather Profits setup is very easy to follow.

They email out a handful of tips between 9 and 10am whenever there is all weather racing to bet upon, with all bets following a fixed staking plan of 2 points to win at Betfair SP.

Check out their results since 2014 below:

allweatherprofits

Results to this simple method have been fantastic during each of the 3 years the service has been live.

2214 bets, a profit of 529.7 points, and a 12% Return on Investment.

And yes – these results do deduct 5% commission from each profitable bet. Thus ensuring that if you have a lower Betfair commission rate (as most people do), you will make a greater profit than those quoted.

Even Better Profits With Bookmaker Access

Whilst ticking all the boxes when it comes to making a profit at Betfair SP, those of you with access to bookmaker accounts, might also be able to increase profits further.

During an 8 month period of intensive tracking, we noted the best odds available with a reputable bookmaker, both 15 and 60 minutes after All Weather Profits put forward their tips.

The upshot of this research is that if taking a bookmaker price within 15 minutes of the tip being advised, we noted an increase in ROI of 10.1% compared to Betfair SP. Even if waiting 60 minutes, the increase was 3.5%

Here is what we found during our period of odds tracking:

Stop Losing With These 5 HIGH Strike-Rate Tipsters

BET LOST

2 small words that strike fear into the heart of many a punter.

Yet for all of us aspiring to make a profit betting, dealing with losing bets is something we must face up to.

After all, the chances are that most bets you place will actually lose.

Coupled with the accepted wisdom that the pain felt from a losing bet is at least twice as strong as the joy gained from a winning bet…It all adds up to a far from pleasant experience.

And in my experience running the Smart Betting Club over the years, not being setup correctly to handle losing runs is one of the major reasons punters fail at betting.

So what should you do to avoid being yet another losing punter statistic?

AND what tipsters should you consider following to make your betting journey that much easier!?

stop-losing

How Risky A Punter Are You?

First, it is about knowing what type of punter you are and how much ‘risk’ you can take from your betting.

Put another way – exactly how much of a rollercoaster ride are you willing to experience when betting?

For example, some punters like to follow tipsters putting up bets at big prices to win. 33/1, 20/1, 16/1 shots etc…

The downside to this kind of strategy comes when you consider the vast majority of such tips are going to lose (sometimes very frustratingly!). Yet when they do win, it all pays off! A 33/1 winner will easily wipe out a 20 tip losing streak and leave you with plenty of profit.

Yet for many punters, especially those of you risk-averse, suffering a run of 20 losers on the bounce is a bit too much to bear. There is nothing wrong with you if you fall into this category – you simply need to choose a different type of tipster.

Instead you should look for a higher-strike rate tipster – one who if not winning more than they lose, will still regularly enough to keeping your losing runs short and manageable.

Yet, understanding the type of tipster you need is one thing, finding them another.

Which is where SBC can help as we currently proof, review and report back on 5 different tipsters all of whom fit this criteria.

Let me showcase who they are and how they can help you.

5 High-Strike Rate Profitable Tipsters To Follow

1. Short Odds Football Tipster (47.5% Strike-Rate)

Featured in the 2017 Best Tipster Guide, this specialist football tipster has really impressed us with their consistency and most of all profits.

Since 2010, their winning strategy has hit a 47.5% strike-rate of success by focusing on tips with average odds of 2.43/1. Achieving a 13.6% ROI along the way.

Any losing runs have been short and sharp, making it a perfect option for those of you looking for an easy-to-follow and stable expert.

Best of all if using our recommended Compound Staking approach (as detailed in the 2017 Best Tipster Guide), you can drastically improve your profits by making your money work harder for you.

“£35,310 Profit In 23 Months”……

2. Short Odds Racing Tipster (34.72% Strike-Rate)

Some horse racing ‘experts’ will have you believe it’s impossible to make money backing favourites.

We know this is a nonsense due to the success of tipsters like our 2nd expert who has made a habit of profiting from backing horses at short odds (usually 3/1 and below).

Hitting a strike-rate of 34.72% long-term, he has proved his success over the last 3 years by making 112 points profit at a ROI of 11.3% backing at such short odds. All from 993 bets – proving this is no fluke!

Best of all, this equates to Betting Bank Growth of 250% in those 3 years alone. And who said backing favourites can’t be profitable?

3. Asian Handicap Football Tipster (53.52% Strike-Rate)

One very popular style of punting (and not just because it normally hits a high strike-rate) comes in the form of ‘Asian Handicap’ football betting.

It’s not rare to see bookmakers trade to tiny margins such as just 2% in these markets, which opens up the opportunity for shrewd punters to take advantage (If you are not familiar with Asian Handicaps, I urge you to check them out – they are really very easy to follow!)

Our very own in-house SBC Asian Handicap service is called AH Edge and it has thrived this season hitting a very high strike-rate of 53.52%, and at average odds of 2.18/1

From 301 tips this season alone, AH Edge has made a profit of 29 points at a ROI of 9.63% and so is ticking all  the right boxes. Profitable and at a high strike-rate with more than 1 in every 2 bets winning.

468X60

4. NBA Tipster (56.9% Strike-Rate)

Another very favourable betting market for punters can be found when betting on US Sports such as NBA (Basketball), where huge sums of money are traded at low margins.

One such NBA Tipster we have tracked for several years now has a tried and trusted strategy for maximising profits from these markets – again working to a high strike-rate.

During the current NBA season, his strategy has hit a 56.9% strike-rate at average odds of 1.94/1 to ensure a profit of 60 points at 9.6% Return on Investment so far.

5. Very Short Odds Football Tipster (79.38% Strike-Rate)

The 5th and final tipster has a very unique betting strategy – focusing in on very short priced favourites predominantly on football.

In 2016 alone, he hit a 79.38% strike-rate of winning bets. Almost 4 out of every 5 tips advised went onto win.

Although his average odds for each tip advised is quite low at around 1.29 – the high strike-rate more than ensured he made a clear profit.

I know some of you might think “Hey, anyone can pick short-priced tips” – the reality is you can’t, because if you could, you would be doing it and making a profit from it.

Best of all, this tipster thrives when it comes to what we term Return on Capital as to our fairly cautious banking suggestions, he would have grown your bank by 72.3% in just 2016 alone.

SBC really is a breath of fresh air, offering totally impartial long-term reviews of services truly acting in the best interests of sports betting punters.

Handling Losing Is A Huge Part Of Winning

The topic of losing is not one many betting sites are willing to discuss, yet for me it’s an essential part of betting day-in, day-out. Far too often how you handle losing can be the difference between success and failure.

If you are following the wrong tipsters, staking the wrong amount or simply not using a sensible betting bank, losing runs can and will bite you on the backside.

If you are interested in the 5 tipsters I list above, all of them bar AH Edge can be found in the regular Tipster Profit Reports we publish on behalf of members. We regularly feedback on their ongoing profit/loss in each Tipster Profit Report to keep you on top of who is in form and who to follow with your money.

The Top Ten SBC Tipsters: Averaging Between 2.6k & 10.6k Per Annum

>
A question that I regularly get asked as the Editor of the Smart Betting Club, is just who the best performing and most reliable tipsters actually are?

After all, knowing exactly who you should follow with your own hard earned cash is critical to making money betting.

Well the good news is that my team and I at the Smart Betting Club regularly publish reports on the latest performance levels of an elite list of betting tipsters.

We can this elite list our ‘Hall of Fame’ which is a fully vetted and recommended list of tipsters for you to use. If features those betting experts that have proven themselves to win money for SBC members again and again.

To keep the Hall of Fame relevant, it is regularly updated based on the detailed proofed results records we keep for over 50 tipsters – thus ensuring it’s always fully accurate and up to date.

To help illustrate just how well our Hall of Fame tipsters perform, below you can find the all-time profit figures from the top ten performing services (as taken from our most recent ‘Tipster Profit Report’)

bestalltime

How This Table Can Help You

To explain how the table works, if you had started following Service 1 with a £2000 betting bank, in an average year you would make a profit of £10,679.00.

Even the 10th best service in this list would make a profit of £2,690 in average year – from just a £2000 bank.

What’s more, we are uncovering more and more top tipsters all the time as can also be observed by the new entries at numbers 5, 8 and 10 in the table above.

Now whilst I can’t reveal who is on this top ten list to those of you not yet SBC members (for obvious reasons) it does help to showcase what can be made from following them.

What I can tell you is that it contains a mixture of Horse Racing and Football based tipsters, providing a nice blend of sports for you to bet upon.

I can also reveal that on average, the 22 tipsters that currently make up the Hall of Fame have been active for 71 months. That’s just shy of 6 years – so you know they are proven to work.

These are not your useless ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ tipsters you see elsewhere.

It’s fair to say that these are the tipsters who have proven to be reliable performers and most of all have demonstrated a clear edge over the bookmaker.

£1 for 60 days membership: The tipster that turned £1k into £6.9k

>
Without a doubt the main headline from the very latest Secret Betting Magazine (Issue 98 – released Tuesday) was the review of the red-hot racing tipster that has made a phenomenal 598% betting bank growth in 27 months.

Having racked up 747 points profit at a ROI of 22.6% during this period and with a special offer of 60 days subscription for just £1 (exclusively to SBC), I thought it wise to reveal a little bit more today.

Here then is a brief snapshot of what this tipster has achieved since June 2014 and just why they are taking the internet tipping world by storm!

£1000 Into £6,981 Since July 2014

As ever, two of the best indicators for the profitability of any tipster is their Return on Investment (ROI) and Return on Capital (ROC).

Starting off with ROI, this is a figure which helps to outline how much you need to stake to make a profit betting by following their tips.

Here, this tipster thrives with a 22.6% ROI from 2,386 bets since 2014. This also equates to a 747-point profit from 3,306 points staked.

ROI-sbc98

It’s not just ROI that helps, but also Return on Capital (ROC, although also known as betting bank growth), which informs you how much money you need to allocate to follow a tipster.

As the table below indicates, over the same period and to our advised betting bank, this tipster has made 598.1% ROC or betting bank growth.

This 598.1% ROC figure has been generated consistently over the years with 118.2% in 2014(the service started in July of that year), 196.9% in 2015 and 283% so far in 2016.

ROC-sbc98

Putting that 598.1% figure into real money…

  • £500 invested in 2014 would now be worth £3,490
  • £1000 invested in 2014 would now be worth £6,981
  • £2000 invested in 2014 would now be worth £13,962
  • £4000 invested in 2014 would now be worth £27,924

A Minimum Profit Of 7.9% ROI At Betfair SP

As with every racing tipster we review, we also looked at their performance to Betfair SP (minus 5% commission) to see if there is potential to follow them on the exchange.

We discovered that over the 2386 bets advised, you would have made a 259.9-point profit at 7.9% ROI if betting at Betfair SP in this way. Factoring in the likelihood you would pay a lower commission than 5% over time, it is likely you would have easily bettered this sum.

Below is the full table of performance comparing advised odds to Betfair SP.

advised-odds-betfair

83.2% ROI At Major Festival Meetings!

In our review analysis, we also noted their excellent performance betting in the major festival meetings. This was a combination of antepost and normal tips, which whilst only 181 in total, stack up very well indeed with a 195 point profit at 83.2 ROI!

Although the data sample isn’t the biggest, it does go to highlight a potential strong area of expertise.

Twas The Night Before Racing & The Odds Weren’t Available!

>
One of the most important issues facing many racing tipsters these days is that of odds availability.

It’s something that has dogged the likes of Hugh Taylor and his ilk for many a year as whilst his expertise in beating the bookie is never in doubt, the ability to obtain the odds he quotes certainly is!

Yet for some tipsters this issue is getting worse: Those tipsters that put up bets the night before racing.

As whilst it might make sense to follow a tipster snapping up the earliest value – in reality it can cause you all kinds of problems.  Allow me to explain more, including why some unscrupulous tipsters are taking advantage of it…

The Evolution Of Racing Bookmaking

To help explain the current issue with taking early odds, it’s worth a quick down memory lane to understand how betting on racing historically worked.

Back in the good old days, most bookmakers employed large teams of racing traders who would price up each race meeting and manage a traditional racing book. As bets flowed in and out, the odds for each horse would change as each bookie managed their liability and tried to eke an overall profit.

Occasionally, some bookmakers would find themselves getting filled in and taking a hit if getting it wrong, yet their in-built over-round always ensured that long-term, they would make a profit.

With the introduction of betting exchanges, all of this changed.

Nowadays, large-scale racing trading teams are a thing of the past, with most bookmakers forming their odds based on the Betfair market or by simply copying each other.

The art of building a racing book has been lost with only a few exceptions (Black Type Bet for example who don’t price up the races until 8.30am the day of racing).

Ultimately though, most of the skill has gone out of creating and maintaining a racing book and this in turn has impacted how we as punters get on.

TPR 468 X 60 Oct 16

Why Odds Are Odd When Betting Early

This sea change in the world of racing bookmaking has had a major knock-on effect for those punters keen to bet early.

For most races, you can expect to see the first available odds start appearing around 4 to 5pm the afternoon before it starts.

As the evening wears on, a few other bookies will start to quote odds until there are a handful of bookmakers pricing up each horse in a race.

Often these prices are based on the limited amount of trading so far on Betfair – not much money at all or some rudimental tissue prices the bookie is working to.

As these early prices are not based upon the expertise or skill of a racing trader, the bookmakers know they are vulnerable to shrewd punters who might know more than them and snap up the value odds on any overpriced horses.

Bookmakers are therefore extremely twitchy about even moderate sums of money coming in for a horse at such a time of day.

If they see support coming in for a horse on the exchanges, this is another sure-fire warning signal that they might have the price wrong.

So what do they do in this instance?

Simple – they slash the odds available and it’s not rare to see big movements in odds, especially for the larger priced fancied horses, where the bookies potential liabilities are that much higher.

Tipsters & Their Quoted Prices

It is this issue of slashing odds that causes such a problem for tipsters who post up bets the evening before racing.

The general logic is that the earlier a tipster puts up a tip, the greater chance its odds will move downwards.

For those tipsters with a large subscriber base, there is zero chance the quoted odds will hold up.

It’s all too common to see a price of 20/1 quoted by a tipster, yet within minutes it’s a best 16/1 or 14/1. Come the morning of the race its 10/1 and it starts at 8/1 SP.

Considering betting profitably is all about value, even a change from 20/1 to 16/1 can and does make a major difference to your bottom line.

Taking 8/1 or 10/1 on a 20/1 shot isn’t worth thinking about neither – and by doing so you are actually more likely to turn a loss then a profit.

The Tipster That Wouldn’t Play Fair

Yet despite these clear issues with early tips – some unscrupulous tipsters continue to willfully take advantage of them and claim ‘fictional odds’ for their advised bets.

Not long ago, I was approached by a tipster (who will remain unnamed) with on the face of it a tremendous record of results, roughly 35% ROI, all of which was loosely ‘proofed’ on a third-party website.

He was keen to start proofing to the Smart Betting Club, which he duly did. After approximately 6 months he got in touch keen to ask as to when we might be reviewing him. Apparently, he was struggling to keep hold of customers and needed to bring some more on board.

Stepping around the obvious caveat that we only review a tipster when we have enough data and proofing to hand (over 12+ months as the usual minimum) and the fact no-one gets a positive review unless it is merited, it was clear to me why he was struggling to retain customers.

He was quoting tips using ‘fictional odds’ the evening before racing – something that internally, my team and I had flagged as a major warning sign.

We would regularly see a 16/1 tip put up that in no time at all was 12/1 or an 8/1 tip that got smashed into 9/2….You get the point!

So, whilst he could attract customers initially, there was no chance he could keep them because it would quickly become apparent to any subscribers he wasn’t playing fair.

I put it to him that rather than quote a 35% ‘fictional’ ROI, he would be better served tipping up at 8.30am the day of racing and seeing how his tips fared at that point. He might only make 10% ROI but at least it would be achievable. Maybe he wouldn’t lose his customers so quickly!

He disagreed, preferring instead to sit on his unrealistic record and to tip as early as possible. He promptly withdrew his proofing and was never reviewed by us.

The Best Tipster Guide - SBC

Odds Tracking Is A Must For Any Racing Review

This story outlines very neatly exactly why every genuine tipster review MUST feature an element of odds-tracking.

We perform this as standard for every major racing tipster we review and whilst it is hard-work and time-consuming, it is hugely valuable.

We track not only performance to the quoted odds, but the best odds after 15 minutes, 60 minutes, at 10.30am, SP, Betfair SP and other relevant time periods.

By doing so we can quickly identify those tipsters putting up genuine odds and inform you as to how achievable the odds are (or not).

Only the very best and fairest tipsters go onto be reviewed by us and can work towards a Hall of Fame recommendation.

The good news is that there are currently 23 tipsters within the Hall of Fame, all of whom have been assessed as offering punters a fair shot at obtaining the quoted odds put forward.

You can discover more about them (and read our detailed reviews on each) with a Smart Betting Club membership.

Whatever you do though, be very wary of any tipster quoting results based on tips sent the day before racing. Very often you simply can’t match their results in practice!

P.s. If ever in doubt as to whether a tipster puts up genuine odds – be sure to ask them exactly when they put up their tips and how they settle their results. If they are putting them up the evening before racing and making no adjustments for odds movement, I would advise you to give them a miss!

Smart Betting Club

2 tipsters (1 racing, 1 football) making significant returns in 2016

>
Through my regular posts over the past few months, I have highlighted several tipsters featured in the latest Smart Betting Club Reports & Magazines that have really made me sit up and take note.

In today’s post, I want to focus in further on just 2 of these experts – one dedicated to racing tips and the other football, who since their SBC reviews earlier this year have continued to make some significant profits.

Starting with the FREE racing tipster with 94 points profit from 144 bets this year alone…

Featured Tipster #1: 38.1% ROI In 2016 From A Free Racing Expert

In May 2016’s Smart Betting Club Magazine, my team and I reviewed an excellent FREE Racing tipster service that had really impressed us over a 3 year period of proofing.

I first mentioned this tipster in this article back in May, which outlined how between 2013 and April 2016, they made 140.6 points profit at 11.1% ROI from their free advice.

Well the good news is that this strong form has continued with a further 96 bets since then contributing an extra 34.4 points profit at 22.48% ROI, including a 12/1 winner on Saturday.

Here is the updated results table for this tipster..

pic-a

Averaging a tip every other day, the long-term stats for this service stack up very well with 175 points profit at 12.3% ROI from 742 bets.

With all tips supplied after midday at achievable and obtainable odds and all via a free email list, it’s certainly worth signing up for.

More details on this tipster, including my team’s full independent review can be found in SBC Magazine #97 from May 2016.

Awesome Foursome - SBC97

Featured Tipster #2: 38.1% ROI In 2016

Ahead of the new football season in August 2016, my team and I also reviewed a fascinating new football tipster that really impressed during the previous 12 months. It was featured in Part 5 of our 2016/17 Essential Football Compendium.

During the 2015/16 season, this tipster’s simple ‘loophole’ method made a profit of £2302 from just £3006 staked by utilising a series of bookie specials, small stake accas and shrewd low-risk bets.

The good news is that already this season, their advice has made a further £388.05 profit from just £1184 staked to add yet more to their betting bank.

This is also on top of the £169.16 profit made from £358 staked during Euro 2016

Making Acca’s Pay

It’s fair to say this is no ordinary tipster service, as it does mix up occasional offers with shrewd accumulator bets, where they really thrive.

By picking the right bets for an acca and taking advantage of the many bookies who offer ‘acca insurance’ (whereby you are covered if just 1 game lets you down) they have made significant profits.

Upon examining 94 four-fold+ accas that were advised last season, 28 had won, 31 lost and a further 35 were ‘pushes’ which ensured a free bet refund (the acca insurance). If factoring a small loss from the free bet refunds, I estimated a profit in excess of 65% ROI from the accas alone.

This profitable acca trend has continued this season and shows no signs of abating anytime soon!

Once again, more details on this tipster, including my team’s full independent review can be found in Part 5 of the Essential Football Compendium. Available for download instantly with a Smart Betting Club membership.

The Betfair SP ‘Hall of Famer’: 12.5% ROI From 2069 Bets

>
If I had to put a wish list together of what most people want in a tipster, it’s fair to say it would look a bit like this:

1. Proven record of profit over several years
2. Makes a profit at Betfair SP after 5% commission removed
3. Free or less than £10 a month subscription fee
4. Reliable, consistent and professionally run

Well, the good news is in the very latest Tipster Profit Report, I welcomed a tipster meeting all 4 of these criteria into the Smart Betting Club Hall of Fame.

This tipster has made 12.5% from 2069 bets since January 2014, ALL at Betfair SP minus 5% commission and costs just £7.49 a month to follow.

Sounds too good to be true? Indeed it does, but I can assure you, it is very much true!

Here’s a quick rundown of just why this tipster meets all the SBC criteria for recommendation…

TPR 468 X 60 Oct 16

1. Proven record of profit over several years

The first thing I look for in any tipster is the ability to make a profit not just over a few weeks or months but long-term.

Usually this means at least 12 months of proofing, preferably more and a significant set of data to analyse.

In this instance, this tipster ticks all the boxes with a record of 2069 tips dating back to January 2014 and 518 points profit at a 12.5% Return on Investment.

Not only is this an excellent standard of profit, but is based on more than enough data to draw firm conclusions that this tipster knows what they’re doing.

After all, it would be night on impossible to fluke a profit over more than 2000 bets and nearly 3 years of tipping.

2. Makes a profit at Betfair SP after 5% commission removed

In today’s world of betting restrictions, those of you making too much profit, and attracting the wrong kind of bookmaker interest are looking for tipsters to follow at Betfair SP.

Certainly, it’s not easy for a tipster to achieve a profit at Betfair SP, but this is exactly what this service has achieved with all 518 points profit compiled to date.

What’s more, this total of 518 points is AFTER 5% commission has been individually deducted off every winner to cater for Betfair’s usual charge.

As the more you use Betfair, the greater your commission rate reduces, there is every chance you could improve on this return.

3. Free or less than £10 a month subscription fee

Just as with many things in life, it doesn’t always follow that the more you pay for a tipster, the greater the profits you will make.

There are many high-class tipsters offering memberships for affordable fees, and this service is no different with a simple pricing structure of just £14.95 per month. Your first month with them also costs just £3.79 to help you test them out.

The even better news is that with access to the Smart Betting Club, you can enjoy a special ongoing 50% monthly discount on the cost of joining this tipster.

Your first month will cost just £3.79 and then each month thereafter just £7.49.

Over the course of 12 months, you would save as much as £89.52!

Which, I hasten to add, is more than enough to cover a year’s subscription to the Smart Betting Club…

4. Reliable, consistent and professionally run

This final point is often overlooked but it’s a vitally important factor. After all, if a tipster constantly forgets to send emails, misses out crucial information or just generally gives off an air of being run amateurishly, chances are you won’t follow them for long.

There is no doubt this tipster runs his service professionally, with a single tip email arriving like clockwork every day between 9 and 10am. Everything is very clearly laid out and it takes no more than a few minutes to follow each day.

Stakes are always a flat 2 point to win and as all bets are settled at Betfair SP, there is no odds or bookmaker advice – meaning no chasing a price.

>
It’s been a fantastic time for a number of the free tipsters we track and monitor here at the Smart Betting Club and today I wanted to highlight a couple of experts on fire at the moment.

After all it isn’t every day you pick up a winner at 200/1 on the Golf or at 278/1 Betfair SP horse racing is it? Here is the lowdown on 2 experts making the bookies pay at the minute:

Tipster 1: 200/1 Winner For Featured Golf Tipster

We recently put together an extra special ‘Free Tipster Report’ featuring interviews with 8 betting experts we had identified with profitable track-records.

One of these was the Golf & Rugby expert, Simon Mail who just last week picked up a massive 200/1 winner courtesy of Billy Hurley who won in last week’s Quicken Loans National golf tournament.

Simon puts up all of his advice on either his Twitter account or via his Betting.Betfair articles. This success is not a one-off either as he also highlighted recent winners at 45/1 (twice) & 40/1 in other tournaments.

If wanting to find out more – we have a full interview with Simon and 7 other free tipping experts for you to read in this special report available now to all SBC members.

Tipster 2: 278/1 Winner For Free SBC Forum Tipster

If you think a 200/1 winner is impressive, you will want to check out the 278/1 Betfair SP winner that SBC Forum Tipster ‘Sporting Interest’ put up just last week as well.

The horse in question was Quandary Peak and to back up this success, Sporting Interest also picked up two further winners at good prices (Commissioned (22.57) & Merhoob (7.52) on the very same day.

All told, since the 1st August 2015, they have made racked up 166 points profit from over 1000 bets and all at a ROI of 12.2%. They tip on a variety of sports – namely Racing, Football & Golf and have agreed to continue sharing all of their bets for free on the SBC Forum for members to enjoy until the 31st July 2016.

If you are looking for tipsters to help you make money betting then 1 of the 4 experts we reviewed in the latest SBC Magazine (Issue 97) will be right up your street (Especially at the moment during Euro 2016!)

This particular football tipster has a very impressive record with a 12.2% ROI from over 2000 bets from the first 22 months of their service – up to Mid-April 2016, which was the cut-off point for our initial review.

The even better news is that since then, this service has thrived – adding a further 20.79 points profit at 14.58% ROI from their most recent 152 bets. This includes advice so far during the Copa America and Euro 2016 tournaments, where they are also sitting on a host of good looking ante-post bets.

And this added to the fact they are offering ALL Smart Betting Club members 35% off the cost of the service before the 1st August 2016 – makes it an ideal service to consider joining.

If subscribing to their service for 6 months or more, the discounts on offer can save you more than the cost of joining the Smart Betting Club itself – making it a total no-brainer if interested in how they can help you.

Case Study: How To Analyse A Tipster…

How To Analyse A Tipster…

If the release of our free ‘Financial Year Betting Report’ made one thing clear last week – it is that if following the right tipsters, you can make money betting.

In that report (free to download here) we showcased how SBC writer, Rowan had made 64.4% bank growth between April 15 and 16. Far greater returns than with many other ‘traditional’ forms of investment and savings.

Yet to make money from betting you need good tipsters – so how do you actually find them?

To help answer that key question, today I want to walk you through a few of the ‘tricks of the trade’ in terms of how we here at SBC scrutinise any given tipster and their performance standards.

Most of it is sensible and straightforward advice that can help you get under-the-bonnet of a tipster and quickly separate the wheat from the chaff.

My Example Tipster

To help explain our approach, i’m going to use a real-life example of a tipster we recently pulled apart and reviewed in-depth in our March 2016 SBC Magazine. It’s a horse-racing tipster with on the face of it a 561.4 point profit from 1766 bets (15.9% ROI) since 2014 and all at Betfair SP.

Now, Betfair SP tipsters are highly sought after so do attract a lot of interest from SBC members (hence our review) but not everything is as straightforward as it seems.

Betfair SP – 27% Profit Difference

The first issue with this tipster was that at the time their results did not deduct any commission on winnings. Betfair do charge as much as 5% commission on any winning bets you place so it’s a cost you can’t escape from.

Some people mistakenly dismiss this as 5% doesn’t seem too much. Yet it is as these stats prove.

The first thing we did with this tipster was to deduct 5% commission off each single winning bet to get to a more realistic total.

Here is how it changed things:

  • Total profit pre-commission: 561.4 points (15.9% ROI)
  • Total profit post-commission: 410.3 points (11.6% ROI)

As you can see, this very simple act knocked off 4.3% ROI and 151.1 points at a stroke – effectively 27% of the claimed profits.

Thus the 5% commission actually accounted for a substantial chunk of profits here, although we do still have plenty to work with – an 11.6% ROI post commission.

The Biggest Bang For Your Betting Buck

Performance Chart

The next thing we like to observe is their performance chart as this can help uncover any underlying issues with the service such as:

  • Has the service benefitted from just a handful of big priced winners? If so it might have got lucky.
  • Has the service made consistent profits throughout the lifetime of their service? If not, has their edge eroded recently?
  • Has the service suffered from bad losing runs? If so, it might be an ‘unstable’ service that you might not wish to follow!

Here is the performance profit chart for this service, which aside from 2 largeish losing runs (more about soon) has grown fairly steadily over the course of 3500 bets.

An ideal chart will go upwards from left to right at a 45-degree angle, and this is not too different as the red line proves.

Profit Chart - SBC Example

Watch Those Losing Runs!

Of course we can’t ignore the fact that the service has endured a number of bad losing runs and evaluating the depth of these is vitally important.

  • Firstly – a losing run will help us to identify what possible size betting bank we might need to cover any such bad periods. After all – sensible betting bank management is an essential consideration for all punters.
  • Secondly – a losing run helps to showcase that the service results are realistic and that the tipster can cope with bad periods of form. Too many naïve tipsters fold under the pressure of a bad run and chase winners, but that doesn’t seem the case here.

So to help evaluate a losing run, we put together what we call ‘Drawdown analysis’. This helps to pick out the worse runs from peak to trough. I.e. if you joined at the worst possible moment and the first bet of a losing run.

Here is the drawdown chart for this service:

Drawdown - SBC Example

The worst run staked peaks at 136.5 points, which took place between June and October 2014 – a period of 195 bets.

What this tells us is:

  • We need a betting bank size well in excess of 136.5 points to cope with possible losing runs. Anything less than this and we risk blowing our bank if unlucky! Our recommended betting bank is 250 points for this service
  • On occasions you will need to be patient if following this service – the 4-month drawdown period between June and October 2014 illustrates as much.
  • The tipster has stayed true and consistent to their approach even during pressurised losing runs. They know their edge and stick to it through thick and thin.

3 New Profitable Tipsters Reviewed - SBC

Odds Band, Race Course & Handicap Analysis

So far, we have discovered that this tipster makes an 11.6% ROI at Betfair SP and would require a betting bank of around 250 points to cover possible losses during bad runs.

What else can we find?

Well we often run all kinds of analysis and chop up the service in different ways to see what other strengths and weaknesses we can find. Here are a few of interest…

Performance By Odds

A really simple analysis tool is to look at which odds range a tipster makes its profit from. For this tipster, the vast bulk of their success comes from bets priced at over 8.50, which account for 68% of the total profits.

290416_odds

Performance By Race Course

This particular tipster is an all-weather racing specialist so we also drilled into their performance over the 3 tracks they tip at – Kempton, Lingfield & Southwell.

What was fascinating was the very poor comparative performance at Kempton with just a measly 0.1% ROI from 645 bets at the course.

290416_course

Handicap Vs Non-Handicap

Finally – we also found varying performance when separating the tips into either handicap or non-handicap races with a definite edge to the former. There was a 210 point and 10% ROI swing in the favour of handicap race tips.

Results by Handicap example chart

We run all these extra kinds of analysis to identify additional areas of strength and weakness, although it is important to highlight that you do have to be careful if jumping to definitive conclusions in some areas.

For example, if choosing to bet on tips priced 8.5 and over, you would need a much larger betting bank as you would be opening yourself up to a much more volatile tipster. The strike-rate on these larger priced tips only stands at 8.7% compared to 22.3% if following all of the tips in.

Final Scores On The Doors

Although this is just a fairly brief synopsis of our own review process (which goes into a lot more detail than I can outline here) it should give you a flavour of a few ways to evaluate tipsters.

Something as simple as deducting 5% Betfair SP commission or looking at the performance graph can provide plenty of answers.

The good news about this tipster is that they ultimately had a good long-term record of 410.3 points profit at a ROI of 11.6%. To the advocated betting bank of 250 points this equates to a ROC or Betting Bank Growth of 205.2% since 2014.

Here are their yearly figures:

Yearly Figures example chart

After liaising with this tipster for this review, they subsequently posted up their results with 5% commission deducted as standard. They are also offering all SBC members a 50% discount on the cost of joining their service.
