How To Calculate The Value Of Your Bets

How much exactly would you pay for a plain old cup of coffee at Starbucks?

  • Nothing, I’ll make may own and I like tea anyway!
  • £2.50
  • £5.00
  • £20.00 (if you bought it from the Olympic Park!)

Unless you’re particularly desperate, most people will choose the first 2 options. We all have similar ideas of the value of a cup of coffee and so do Starbucks.

Charging £20.00 for a cuppa will soon put them out of business, but what exactly has this got to do with betting?

It’s All About Value Bets

The biggest transition I see in new Smart Betting Club members is when they stop thinking in just terms of what will win and start thinking about value bets.  Continue reading

What Our Real-Life Tipster Testing Revealed…

Very often when it comes to betting tipsters or systems there are two different types of results on offer…

1) The results claimed by a tipster

2) The results actually achievable in real-life

Whether it be placing bets late, not having enough betting accounts or missing out on advised prices, any tipster worth its salt must make it practical for those following him in to mirror his profits.

Take our recent analysis of Tom Segal  as a prime example. The Racing Post likes to brag about the big winners he sometimes picks out, which is great in concept. Yet its often very difficult to get his advised prices as the bookies slash the advised odds so quickly (and that’s before we discuss them not taking into account rule 4 deductions).

It’s the same for other popular ‘free’ tipsters such as Hugh Taylor and the Pricewise column, both of whom its tough as old boots to get the advised prices for. Continue reading

If you have ever been conned or ripped off by a betting tipster scam then we have a fascinating tale to share with you today.

Originally posted by an SBC member on our private forum last week, it reveals one man’s betting journey, the tipster scams that nearly left him penniless and just how he has bounced back in fine style.

Although his story has a happy ending, it provides a stark warning on the perils of joining the wrong tipster or listening to the wrong ‘expert’…

Betting Tipsters & Systems: How To Move From Casual To Expert Gambler

The lowdown on how tipsters and systems can help make your betting pay…

Like many people my age, summertime means just one thing: Wedding invites.

And with every wedding these days, I also get the ubiquitous stag do, for which it’s fast become a tradition amongst my friends to host them at one of our local racecourses.

A great day out you might think for a betting man – not quite!

It’s not that I don’t like horse racing, but a day at the races puts untold pressure on my shoulders because everyone expects me “as the Editor of the Smart Betting Club” to pick them out a guaranteed winner.

You get the idea – if I can magic up a big 20/1 winner for the guys, the hotel rooms and bar bill is sorted for the night!

Betting as we all know is never that easy and after every stag do, I seem to end up having to explain why the fact I didn’t back a big winner that day, doesn’t correlate to me having lost my touch.

Euro 2012 Fantasy Prediction League Results

We like to think the average Smart Betting Club member knows a thing or two about football and predictions, so it was very pleasing to see our members dominate the Fantasy Prediction League for Euro 2012.

With each participant given 10 mythical points to spread around a number of key Euro 2012 markets, the fight was on to see who would pick out the best value bets and come out on top. With cash prizes for the overall winner and free SBC membership for the winner of our very own mini-league, there was every reason to do well. Results are as below…

Overall Winner

In top spot overall was SBC member, Mikey, who took the £100 cash prize from Fantasy Prediction League with all 4 of his bets winning. His biggest win was a 5 pt max bet on England to be eliminated at the Quarter Final stage, alongside Spain to win and Fernando Torres to be top scorer.

SBC League Winner

We also put together a special mini league for anyone keen to win a free Smart Betting Club membership, which was scooped by Mark, whose 5 pt bet on Spain at 11/4 to take the title landed him top spot.

A big well done to all who took part and those who bagged themselves a prize. We will be teaming up further with Fantasy Prediction League to run more competitions in time for the new football season.
