Continuing our recent theme of helping YOU ‘Find The Best Tipsters’ that are out there, this week my attention turns to the thorny subject of odds availability.

If you haven’t really thought about this before, then stand up and take note!! This is a massive issue for anyone following a tipster, because if you can’t get the odds advised (and more importantly the odds that results are settled to) then what is the point?

It’s something that trips up many a novice  punter who joins a service based on outstanding results, only to then find that you can’t actually get the odds they suggest.

This week, to continue our guide on ‘finding the best tipsters’, I want to focus on just how much they cost…and just how much you should expect to pay for tips (if at all!).

It’s fair to say that prices for tipsters can vary a fair bit.  But thankfully it doesn’t always mean that the tipster charging the highest amount will offer the best results.

The Tipster Industry Has Evolved!

The tipster industry has moved on from the bad old days of premium phone lines and 4 figure membership sums offering you ‘inside information’ tips. Thankfully you can file them along with your old Betamax videos, shell suits and Bermuda shorts. The Racing Post may still carry adverts for a number of chancers who still operate in the tipster ‘dark ages’, but they really are flogging a dead horse (pardon the pun!).

We know that finding good tipsters that can genuinely make you money betting can be difficult and at times, a bit like trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack.

Which is why in the latest SBC magazine we unveiled the winners of our 2013 Tipster & Betting Awards, to try and reveal to you the tipsters who win regularly. As voted for by the people who use them day in, day out – SBC members, thus ensuring that those scooping the best awards are bonafide money making tipsters.

To find the winners for the awards, we asked each SBC member to vote for their top tipsters of the past year in 5 different categories:

• Best Sports Betting Tipster (i.e. anyone not a horse racing tipster)
• Best Horse Racing Tipster
• Best Football Only Tipster
• Best Tipster Newcomer
• Best Overall Tipster (The biggie!)

The top 3 tipsters in each category won Gold, Silver & Bronze, and the full results rundown can be found in our very latest SBC magazine. Many of those that scooped a prize have already started to display their award rosettes with pride!

As part of our 2013 Tipster & Betting Awards, we also wanted to find out the other services our members rated as the most useful, so there are awards in other categories such as Best Betting Website and Best Bookmaker.

We also asked each member happy to answer anonymously, just how much money they had made betting in 2012, to get a range on the profits and loss being made, which also makes for fascinating reading.
