It’s been tough going on the old nags these past couple of weeks. A heck of a lot more losers have been backed than winners, let’s put it that way. Two services – Northern Monkey and Precision Value – are into the deepest drawdown they’ve seen this year.
But as ever, some context is needed. It’s difficult to be too frustrated by Northern Monkey when we’re up by 167 points and running at an ROI of 32% for the year. After the spectacular fireworks of September, it was kinda inevitable October would be difficult, and so it has proven. Changing (ie. wetter) weather conditions haven’t helped and as far as the flat horses are concerned, this has been the time of year when many may be feeling the affects of a long season.
Things are a little more worrying for Precision Value and we’re now in negative territory for 2021 to date. I think I mentioned in my last Racing post a couple of weeks ago that we know we can trust the source of and methodologies sourcing the bets, and the drawdown remains significantly less than half the allotted bank, so again we need to see the bigger picture. This is a testing time for the service without a doubt, but as things stand we’re still in the realms of persevering, sticking it out and waiting for fortunes to turn.
Finally for this week, how disappointing was it for Racing Service 1 members on Saturday? Day 1 of the new season and I’m like a kid at Christmas, but technical issues for A. meant no form study for him and no bets for us. I’ve not felt like that since I got a BBC Micro (Google it, kids!), unwrapped it on Christmas morning, and then see it not working. All I wanted was a bit of Jet Set Willy and Donkey Kong…all I got was a fuzzy screen. For RS1 this week, “Christmas” was cancelled. It’ll be on the weekend coming though. 🙂
