GOLF: It had to happen…a poor week with the sticks.

After what had come before, with three winners across three weeks, I guess a bad week was due, and that’s what we got.

Only two golfers placed over in the US this week, in what turned out to be a strange tournament.  Most of the players at the forefront of the market seriously underperformed.  Whilst that’s not necessarily a bad thing as many of the players our tipsters support are not within this section of the books, sadly our longer priced selections failed to produce the goods too.

So only the in-form Ben Coley and Weekly Golf Value with any sort of return, and that not enough to keep either from producing a small loss overall.  And a blankety blank for everyone else.

After two weeks in which we’ve had just the one tournament to concentrate on, this week coming will see a bit of a ratcheting up of stakes as we have three tournaments for our guys to take a tilt at.  Hang on to your hats!

Back next week!

Just a quick note to say that I’m away this week on holibobs – back next week!  See you then!

RACING: Liking what I see from the Bookiebashing Racing Tracker

I wrote last week about how excited I am to be using the Bookiebashing Racing Tracker, and to date, it hasn’t disappointed.  I used the first few days getting used to the software and reading all about the service on their website, and then started placing Lucky 15s over the weekend.

I can see immediately the potential for the occasional big win that will boost the coffers massively, and also how there may well be fairly lengthy spells of losing.  The best I’ve had in the eight Lucky 15s I’ve placed is a winner and two placed – get a couple of winners and a couple of places and things will look rosy indeed.  My gut feeling is that it will always be a matter of time and until that time arises, we just need to be patient.  As it is, I’m running at a pretty decent ROI, but the sample is tiny.

The other thought that has crossed my mind is that there will be some days when there’ll be a fair old number of bets being placed, and others (probably quiet midweek days) when there won’t be too much action at all.

All told though, and I very much like what I see.

Elsewhere and I’m afraid the past week has been a very poor one for Bet Alchemist, which is simply yet to hit its straps this year, and Northern Monkey.  A number of attempts at rolling up some multiples has cost us a few points, but we’ve seen in the past just how lucrative this approach can be.

Another quiet week for Racing Service 1 but one which produced a 5/2 winner.

Racing Totals: ROI -25.4%, ROC -8.69%.

Bet Alchemist (100pt bank): Staked 39pts, -24.338pts, roi -62.4%, roc -24.33%, High 0pts, DD -24.338pts, Max DD -24.338pts

Northern Monkey (80): Staked 56.75pts, -17.005pts, roi -29.96%, roc -21.25%, High 0pts, DD -17.005pts, Max DD -17.005pts

Racing Service 1 (40): Staked 7pts, +0.96pts, roi 13.71%, roc 2.4%, High 1.21pts, DD -0.25pts, Max DD -2pts

BB Racing Tracker (80): Staked 7.5pts, +6.745pts, roi 89.93%, roc 8.43%, High 6.745pts, DD 0pts, Max DD 0pts

SPORTS: All going along quite nicely.

I have no complaints about the Sports portfolio so far this year.  It’s doing what I want it to be doing, which is to simply go merrily along, making a profit in a very steady if unspectacular sort of way.

It was nice to see Touchdown Profit sign off for the season by getting into profit for the year by striking a winning bet in the Superbowl.  It had been a tricky start to 2022, but the losses have been clawed back well.  Looking at the season’s statistics as opposed to the 2022 stats, then it’s been a good year for the service, running at a level of ROI (c.13%) that is quite remarkable bearing the markets the service is playing within.  A 5% ROI is admirable, so to get to the sort of levels they have over the season is testament to the service.  I’m already looking forward to the start of the 2022/23 season.

A frustrating week for The Poacher, but no great harm done, and just one (losing) bet from Sports Service 1.

Sports Totals: ROI 9.25%, ROC 3.53%.

Sports Service 1 (30pt bank): Staked 5.5pts, +1.45pts, roi 26.36%, roc 4.83%, High 2.45pts, DD -1pt, Max DD -1pt

The Poacher (40): Staked 32pts, +1.97pts, roi 6.15%, roc 4.92%, High 3.33pts, DD -1.36pts, Max DD -4.061pts

Touchdown Profit (50): Staked 9pts, +0.66pts, roi 7.33%, roc 1.32%, High 0.66pts, DD 0pts, Max DD -4pts

GOLF: Great Scott! That is amazing tipping!!

Scottie Sheffler.  28/1 – Ben Coley.  25/1 – Tour Tips.  25/1 – Weekly Golf Value.

When Scottie missed a makeable putt on the 18th last night, thereby putting himself through the torture of a play-off to come through to claim his first ever Tour win, I was a little crestfallen.  Not too much, as PGA Profit had the other play-off competitor, Patrick Cantlay, but with Scheffler being tipped up by three tipsters, his was the much better win for my pocket.  He did win, after three nerve-shredding extra holes, and in doing so wrapped up two weeks of memorable and simply astonishing tipping from Weekly Golf Value.

You may recall that last week, WGV had tipped both winners across both the PGA and DP Tours, and had given the 1-2 in one of them.  They repeated that feat this week, with Ryan Fox winning the DP Tour event at 55/1 and Ross Fisher chasing him home at 80/1.

Just read that paragraph above again…and let that sink in.

And then read it again.

Four competitions.  Four winners, Two x 1-2 finishes.

It has, in a strange way, made me feel a little outside my comfort zone.  I don’t think that has ever happened before when I’m making money!  It clearly can’t continue.  Well, it can’t this week anyway, because there’s no DP Tour event, but you know what I mean.

It shouldn’t be overlooked too that Scheffler is Ben Coley’s second winner of the season.

So all round, a bloomin’ good week!

RACING: Exciting. Very exciting!

I’m going to deliberately gloss over the past week’s betting on the nags, as quite frankly it’s not been a good spell and I’m trying to forget!  In a nutshell, a bad week for both Bet Alchemist and Northern Monkey has put each of them on their worst drawdown of the year to date, and the racing portfolio as a whole the same.  It’s not been great.

So instead, I’m concentrating instead on the exciting news that from this week, I’m going to add the Bookiebashing Racing Tracker to the services being followed.

This represents something of a departure for me in terms of style of betting.  Longer term readers will know I tend to be ultra-conservative in my approach to betting.  This however, is a strategy based on Lucky 15s!

I was fortunate enough to be involved in the writing of an in depth review into this service that will be hitting SBC members inboxes imminently. I’ve seen the data, and have been incredibly impressed.  I would urge those of you who might be interested to read the original review and the subsequent analysis on the Lucky 15 strategy.

My thinking too, is that I might perhaps have pared back my racing betting turnover a notch too far.  My attention is to place a few Lucky 15s each day.  Not too many.  Maybe just one or two on the quiet racing days, maybe four or five on the busier Saturdays.  This won’t make too many demands on my time, will up the turnover, and hopefully will give a decent boost to long term ROI.

I am genuinely excited.  I appreciate there are many losing weeks, and a bit like golf, it can be long periods between significant wins, but I’ve got my bank together, my expectations and mindset clear, and I’m raring to go.

COME ON!!!

GOLF: All Hail Weekly Golf Value!

Wow!

When it comes to reflecting on a year in golf betting next December, this past weekend will get more than a passing mention, I’m sure.  A quite superb effort from Weekly Golf Value has dragged the golf portfolio as a whole into profit, despite every other tipster currently registering a loss.

It was a very busy week all round, with there being three tournaments for our experts to go at as opposed to the usual two.

Drawing a blank in the DP Tour event, WGV came into their own in the other two.  First we had the top two – Bubba Watson at 90/1 and Harold Varner at 66/1.  Watson had come from seemingly nowhere on the last day to look all over the winner as he posted a score that left him one shot clear of Varner as the latter played the last.  In what were amazing #scenes, Varner promptly chipped in from way off the green to claim his first ever Tour victory.  What a way to do it, and to be honest for WGV, what a touch he pulled off for them.  There was big value in the 66/1 shot and the bet was staked accordingly, landing us a big win.  With Watson in 2nd and another place return in Matthew Wolff (50/1), it produced a very nice profit indeed.

But we weren’t done there.  Come the evening and the AT&T over Stateside (and what a picturesque course!), another debut Tour winner, Tom Hoge, overcame Jordan Speith over the last few holes to land us a winner at 60/1.

What. A. Day.

The other guys I follow were left in the shade a little, but honourable mentions to PGA Profit who found Troy Merritt to place at 125/1 for a profit on the week, and to Tour Tips who had identified Spieth as an each way pick and thus returned a small profit.  As did Golf Insider who had Joel Dahman at 80/1 place in the US, and Adri Arnaus at 100/1 in the Saudi tournament.

All in all though, it’s Weekly Golf Value that was the star turn this week.  Anyone follow in their lead this week coming, I wonder?

RACING: A much better week all round.

It’s not been a great start at all for Bet Alchemist who dropped another four points or so last week, but some good performances from Northern Monkey and Racing Service 1 meant that the racing’s portfolio’s loss for the year to date was greatly reduced and in fact, not far away from breaking even.

Northern Monkey enjoyed a good Friday which set it up nicely with four bets all returning. With RS1 quiet again, staking just one point all weekend, it was nice that it hit a good 13/2 winner with one of the two bets to give him and us a little impetus.  This season has never really got going for RS1 so let’s hope this win can kick start a strong end to the NH season as we approach Cheltenham.

So all told, it wasn’t a bad week and hopefully the launch of a strong recovery from what had been a tricky start to 2022 all round.  A winner on the golf, good weekly profit from the racing boys, and the Sports services getting into overall profit with a clean sweep from Touchdown Profit on the NFL, and things are looking a wee bit brighter.

Let’s hope we can kick on now.

SPORTS: A good week all round!

Just nine bets across the sports portfolio this past week, but with seven of them winning it was a good week.  Enough profit was generated to get us back into positive territory.

Three winning bets from three for Touchdown Profit on the big NFL play-offs on Sunday evening has almost eradicated the previous losses made this month and it was great to see.  American Football can be a thrilling watch at times. I watched the first play-off game and it was a real rollercoaster.  Great sport.

Good to see The Poacher get back wo profitable ways too after what had been a dodgy week or so.  I’m looking forward to hopefully pushing on now.

And the first bet of 2022 up for Sports Service 1 over the weekend.  We’re off and running…
