I had wondered if the dry weather we’d been having until very recently may have been helping things along, with the going at the various courses being fairly consistent. Whatever, when Bet Alchemist bang in 18/1 winners in the way they did at Punchestown last week, then we know things are going to be ok.
I’m pleased for BA. Theirs wasn’t the best year in 2020, certainly below the standards they tend to set for themselves, but so far this year things have gone much more according to plan. As yet, the deepest drawdown they’ve suffered in 2021 reached just nine points. That’s nothing, particularly when playing at the odds they tend to. So all credit too them. I hope I’ve not just cursed them and there’s a significant drawdown incoming!
